Game
Designer Monte Cook Publishes First Malhavoc Press Electronic
Title
May
31, 2001 (Renton,
Wash.) -- Monte Cook, codesigner of the new edition of
the Dungeons & Dragons® game and author
of the new Dungeon Master's Guide, announces the
creation of his own d20 System imprint, Malhavoc Press.
The
new imprint begins its release schedule with the immediate
electronic publication of The Book of Eldritch Might,
a 36-page book of all-new spells, prestige classes, and
magic items for the d20 System. The book comes in PDF
format and sells for $5.
Why
the new imprint? "Malhavoc Press is a way for me
to continue supporting the game I love," Monte said.
"While my freelance career writing for other companies
continues to go forward, I'm also very excited about creating
a few products all my own."
The
Book of Eldritch Might is followed up by the July
release of The Demon God's Fane, a 32-page adventure
for high-level characters. Later this year, Malhavoc Press
will release its second sourcebook, The Book of Eldritch
Might II: Songs and Souls of Power, supported by another
follow-up adventure.
Hallmarks
of Malhavoc Press and Monte Cook's game design include
unusual magic, monsters, and evocative elements that go
beyond traditional fantasy, as well as a mastery of the
d20 System rules that only one of its original designers
can offer. "I want the things I write to be not only
entertaining to read," Monte explained, "but
more importantly, to make for a really fun and rewarding
roleplaying game session."
All
titles published by Malhavoc Press will be available exclusively
in electronic format at www.montecook.com.
In
addition to designing games for the new imprint, Cook
continues to write freelance Dungeons & Dragons
products for Wizards
of the Coast and d20 System products for Atlas
Games and Fiery
Dragon Productions, with other projects in the works.
His next releases are the mega-adventure Return to
the Temple of Elemental Evil and the DarkMatter
novel, Of Aged Angels, both coming in July from
Wizards of the Coast.
